Dear Members and Friends of Trinity Downtown:
Most of us would probably label 2020 as a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year” experience. A global pandemic, economic lockdown, an oil price crash, 30 tropical storms, social unrest, a tumultuous election—you get the idea. 2020 is one for the history books, and one that is ripe for redemption.
At this weekend’s worship services at Trinity Downtown we’ll be focusing our study of the Christmons on the 8-pointed star. Traditionally, this symbol represents salvation, baptism, renewal and a fresh start. I can’t think of a more encouraging topic to be discussing right now! Please plan on joining us either in-person or virtually at Trinity Downtown this weekend at our contemporary service on Saturday at 5:00 pm or our traditional worship service on Sunday at 9:00 am. Reservations are required to attend either in-person worship service; you can see the details at www.trinitydt.org. You may also make a reservation by calling Stefanie at 713.224.0684 from 8:30-2:30 each weekday. If you are not comfortable attending an in-person service, you can watch the “live stream” of our Satellite Service at 5:00 pm on Saturday, or our traditional service on Sunday at 9:00 am by clicking here. And, of course, you may also participate by watching either of these services “on demand” by clicking here.
Don’t forget we continue to offer an array of virtual adult Bible studies at various times during the week. You can find the details by clicking here.
As we await the birth of our Savior, we have two opportunities for you to share God’s blessings with our neighbors.
Homeless Christmas Lunch
Due to the COVID social distancing restrictions, we’ve re-imagined how we can accomplish our normal sit-down Christmas Lunch for the homeless community around Trinity. This year, during a “regular” weekday in mid-December, the sack lunch ministry will include two special gift cards in each bag:
Toys for Joy
This year, we are participating in LINC’s “Toys for Joy” program which provides gifts to children in under-resourced households. We are collaborating with CASA de Oracion, our Spanish-language ministry partner, to identify and distribute these gift cards.
You can participate in these ministries by giving online (click here), dropping a check made payable to Trinity Downtown in the donation box in the Narthex, or by mailing your donation to the church office. Be sure to note which ministry you are supporting on your check. Trinity’s staff will use the funds provided to purchase the appropriate gift cards, and coordinate with our sack lunch ministry volunteers. Your supporting of either or both opportunities at whatever amount you choose will help Trinity provide a meaningful Christmas gift while sharing the love of Jesus with a neighbor in need.
Changes brought to you courtesy of COVID
Come worship the Creator this weekend at Trinity Downtown, the only One with the power to redeem the ravages of 2020. Join us; it will make a tremendous difference in your life.
